  • Distribution Management System (DMS)

  • Information Storage & Retrieval (ISR) /Historian
ISR is done by a historian that acquires, stores, and displays large amounts of operations and engineering information. It collects data from deep within the enterprise and stores it in a highly compressed format, allowing decades of high-frequency, time-series data to be stored online in its original resolution. The historian enables accurate and timely performance-based decisions that improve operating costs. Through its distributed architecture, it enables the right people to make the right decisions at the right time by providing unlimited visibility.


  • Power Simulator
The Power Simulator allows operators to obtain real-life experience of the theoretical issue likehandling emergency and abnormal operation conditions on a hypothetical power system without the risks of dealing with a live power system. The simulator responds in real-time with flows and voltages updated every second and the operator controls the simulator using a set of one-line diagram displays and a system map. Thus the power simulator makes sure that operator training, which is very critical in a DMS, is appropriate. 

  • Front End Processor (FEP)
The Front End Processor concentrates several channels of protocol input/output via terminal servers / modem banks and provides a LAN interface to the concentrated data. It creates Virtual Private Networks between Control Center LAN and the RTU’s/PLC’s/Automation Equipments located at various sites. The other features include: 
    • Acts as a Protocol Data Concentrator and takes over the connection handling responsibilities from the EMS/DMS/SCADA system
    • Built in firewall to protect the system against possible intrusions.
    • Assigns static IP address to the devices thus by eliminating the requirement of a private APN
    • M2M Gateway has expansion option to handle up to 5000 outstations, and provide concentration capability as required
    • Supports IEC 60870-5-101/104, DNP3 TCP, Modbus TCP, ICCP, IEC 61850 and many more
  • Data Concentrator Unit (DCU)
DCUs from Kalkitech are field proven and secure solutions for protocol communication integration and translation, requirements for large size applications in Distribution. The devices come with upto 16 Serial and 2/4 Ethernet port, in a rugged package. This rack mount product is ideal for the new requirements of the Smart Grid, APDRP applications with OpenVPN Support and Dynamic IP Support. The hardware is NERC / CIP compliant and IEC 61850-3 certified meeting the modern substation automation requirements.

  • Field Remote Terminal Unit (FRTU)
FRTUs are versatile communication systems for Smart Grid applications suited for rugged applications and customizable for different DI/DO/AI combinations. The controller comes with real-time embedded Linux OS, Modbus, IEC-101,104 protocols, and supports secure VPN connections over dynamic IP, with support for GPRS / CDMA and 3G. The other features include: 
    • Modbus RTU / TCP, IEC-101, IEC-104 enabled
    • TCP/IP, UDP, SMTP, POP, FTP, HTTP, SNMP Support

  • Remote Monitoring Unit
The last mile small form factor field device acts as a communicable remote monitoring and control node for individual data sources for applications like transformer monitoring, meter reading, retrofitting legacy devices with new protocols, serial to Ethernet/PPP converter, bump-in-the-wire security adapter, 61850 proxy GGIO gateway and M2M Node with VPN, SMS, IEc 60870-5-101,IEC 60870-5-104 and DNP3 Support. The device comes with optional built-in wireless modems and digital and analog IO, is built to withstand outdoor conditions and can act as a mini pole-top RTU.
