SYNC 4100 Series: Phasor Data Concentrator

SYNC 4100 series of products are high performance and scalable synchro-phasor data concentrator used for Wide Area Monitoring (WAM) applications. With capability to stream data from any IEEE C37.118 compliant phasor measurement unit via Ethernet and wide support of substation protocols (ICCP, DNP3.0, IEC-103), SYNC 4100 provides a high level of interoperability and scalability in operation.
SYNC 4100 can collect data streams from up to 100 PMUs simultaneously at rates of 60 samples/sec and aggregates all the C37.118 input streams, performs data validation and time alignment, and transmitsC37.118 super packets to multiple clients. User friendly tools for configuration and diagnostics also make engineering, system integration and commissioning quick and easy.
Synchrophasor measurement is being widely adopted and deployed on many power systems, as their benefits in power systems operations become accepted. A wide variety of devices now support synchrophasors, from stand-alone PMU's, to protection relays, meters, fault recorders and other substation devices.
Standardization of synchrophasor communications by IEEE C37.118 allow users to select best-of-breed equipment from various vendors, and integrate them into their applications. However, as the number of installed synchrophasor capable devices increase, utilities and integrators begin to face the problem of scalability in integrating large numbers of these devices.
SYNC 4000 is designed with scalability and performance as the key objectives. The current generation SYNC 4000 can handle up to 100 PMUs. It can also perform protocol conversion from C37.118 to a number of common power system protocols, for interfacing with SCADA, EMS or other third party applications. Option is also available for a C37.118 PMU Simulator for simulating deployment scenario's before actual deployment.
